Our Vision

At Pool Hayes Academy we understand the importance of working together to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. One of the fundamental ways to ensure this, is through students having good attendance. Those students that achieve the national target of 95% attendance have minimal learning gaps. This means that they are likely to do well in examinations, achieve their full potential, have better job opportunities, develop good mental health and develop strong friendships within school. Extensive research also suggests that students meeting the national expectation for attendance have an 81.5% chance of achieving 5+ GCSEs, grade 5-9 including English and Mathematics.

Regular school attendance is important because it provides:

  • Better health, employment and income in the future
  • Positive academic outcomes – there is a direct link between regular attendance and outcomes
  • Opportunities to develop social skills and build lasting friendships
  • Allows pupils to personally grow and develop their interests
  • Access to support (SEND, Pastoral, Peer Support)
  • Gives children a sense of belonging and connection with their peers and community
  • Teaches children personal responsibility
  • Provides them with a comprehensive careers education and opens doors
  • Set an alarm every morning
  • Feed them a nutritious breakfast at home, or send them to our breakfast club from 7.45am
  • Encourage good sleep habits
  • Restrict use of technology in the evenings and mornings
  • Ensure your child leaves for school on time, or transport them
  • Reach out to the school for support if your child is struggling with their wellbeing or studies
