Year 9 Options
Students at Pool Hayes Academy choose their Key Stage 4 (GCSE) options during the spring term of Year 9. Throughout the year, students receive guidance and support to help them make informed decisions about the subjects they will study in Years 10 and 11.
We offer two pathways which are designed to help guide students towards the subjects that will best support their future ambitions. These pathways ensure that students continue to follow a broad and balanced curriculum while also having the opportunity to choose subjects that match their interests and strengths.
For many students, this may include studying English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects, such as a modern foreign language or a humanities subject alongside English, mathematics and science. Students are also encouraged to consider vocational qualifications, which offer alternative approaches to learning and valuable practical skills.
Alongside the options process, students benefit from careers education, information and guidance, helping them to understand how their subject choices can support their future pathways.
If you require any further information about the Year 9 options process, please contact Associate Assistant Principle, Mrs Nuara, or Vice Principal, Mr Campbell, via the academy email:
